Ingredients
3 or 4 kale or collard leaves, rinsed and torn into large pieces
¼ lime slice
1 cup fresh pineapple, cut into medium-size pieces
1 medium-size apple, cut into medium-size pieces
1 banana, peeled and cut into medium-size pieces
½ avocado, peeled
1 cup (250 ml) orange juice
1 cup (250 ml) Vitamin Tonic (recipe below), chilled
2 tablespoons Irish sea moss gel
2 tablespoons flaxseeds, freshly ground
2 tablespoons chia seeds
Vitamin Tonic:
2 teaspoons each: alfalfa, horsetail, oatstraw, nettles, goji berries
1 pint (500 ml) pure water
Preparation
Combine all Vitamin Tonic ingredients in a small pot and bring to a gentle boil over medium heat. Reduce to low and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes. Strain into a heat proof container and chill.
Combine all smoothie ingredients in a high-powered blender and blend until pureed smooth (about 2 minutes). Add ice to maintain a cold temperature.
To serve: enjoy 1 cup (or more) a few times daily.
